About the Band Members
Matt Sams
...is a former long-haired, hippy freak, rock'n roll, metalhead type turned blues musician, now often accused of over-dressing for the occasion.
(Here's the name-dropping part!) He has been playing the Brevard County Blues jam scene from 1995-1997 on, with musicians such as Howie & the Blues Rockets, Rick Finke from the Boogiemen (whom Matt has studied under), Papa Chuck, BB Wolf, and Steve Thorpe. He's also sat in with Orlando groups like Pitch Blue Jam, Heart Attack Diner, and Jeff Howell. Finally, for a whole two shows in March of 1996, he performed with Pizza Bob and the Dough Boys (as one of the Dough Boys)- a gig he takes special pride in.
So, that would be why he's the man who's paid the dues. All hail our peerless leader!
Amado
...is also formerly long-haired. Amado first turned on to music when Progressive Rock made its weak comeback in the 80s (years of trombone lessons notwithstanding). After a few years playing keyboards, singing, and writing in that style, he felt music school was the right move. While there, steeped in Bach and Debussy, he fell ass-backwards into Jazz.
So, after graduating he proceeded to record alot of his older Progressive Rock songs (on an album called Wanderlust- go to Amado's site for details) and hit the Jazz jams. He's seen the Jazz scene in Washington DC, Baltimore (special shouts out to the now-closed Larry Stewart's Place- Funk Jazz like he's never heard since), Philadelphia (where he also headlined shows) and Brevard County.
Mighty Joe Luley
...has been playing drums since the age of nine. He was the drummer for several A-Circuit touring bands in the 1980’s, so he's down with some serious name dropping. Here goes: Hurricane, Spinning Infant (whose album was produced by Glen Kolatkin and Richie Cordell), Arch Angel, and Nemesis. And as far as national acts he's opened for, hows about the Romantics, the Outlaws, Steppenwolf , Red Rider, and Molly Hatchett?!?
More recently, Joe has played with Tracer, Fast Taxi, the Bootleggers, and Wildlife, and was an official Wino for Peace with the Legendary Bluesman Stephen Miller. He's good enough to play with the best, and now he's slumming with our silliness -- he sure makes us sound better, tho'. Thanks, Mighty Joe!
Willy Fingers
...is a Florida native who has been in the music industry for 35 years -- and still going strong! Throughout his career he has played with such artists as Vasser Clements, Shot Jackson, and Bill Wharton (a.k.a. the Sauce Boss). After leaving Key Largo and a 10-year stint with Jimmy Hawkins and the Cyclones, house band at the Caribbean Club, he and his family settled in Cape Canaveral. The local music community welcomed him warmly, especially Chuck Crawford (a.k.a. Papa Chuck of the Phat Cats), the Groove Monsters, and the Syndicators. |
