Wayne Myers joins the Syndicators
Variety is the spice of life, right? Well, when Tom Van Dyke had to shift his focus from playing to his family life, the Syndicators started enjoying alot of variety in the drum throne. After a while, though, things got too spicy.
Drummers such as Chris Epler, Randall Brown, and Junny Martinez did fantastic jobs when they filled in, but each had prior band commitments that took precedence. Plus, the band wanted to do some material that sounds better when parts are planned out in rehearsal.
Those problems have been solved. The Syndicators have recruited Wayne Myers to be the new regular drummer. Wayne has solid experience drumming in Classic Rock and Groove bands. He comes to the Syndicators with a steady beat, a predisposition to work out some arrangements in rehearsal, a voice to add to the band's harmony parts, an impressive work ethic, and a unique perspective on the Blues.
Amado first met Wayne in late 2002 at a party thrown by Amado's day job. Wayne was still new in town, and sometimes worked freelance for the company as an audio/video tech. Sometime shortly before or after Wayne and his wife Lisa sang a song in the Karaoke booth Amado had helped set up, Lisa mentioned he was a drummer looking for work. (Yes, the Karaoke recording still exists, and no, there are no plans to make the recording public. Yet.)
Amado provided Wayne with audio recordings of Syndicators performances, and alternate recordings of the same songs as performed by established Blues acts. Wayne arranged for a video tape recording to be made of a Syndicators performance, with Randall on drums, at Tanqueray's in Orlando. (Yes, the video still exists, and no, there are no plans to make it public.) The band planned to use Wayne to fill in at an upcoming gig, with plans to rehearse before the gig and keep him on if all went well. Wayne nailed both the rehearsals and the gig.
The Syndicators welcomes Wayne, and looks forward to many more exciting shows in their new line-up.
